Bill Anawaty serves as Stuart Portfolio Consultant’s liaison to Asian and other global institutional investors. His early experience with Asian investors arose from his service at the US Treasury Department HQ in Washington DC as an international lawyer; Director of Special Programs for the Under-Secretary for Monetary Affairs; and Executive Assistant to the Deputy Secretary, in which capacities he traveled regularly to Asian countries, especially Japan.
In the private sector, as Founder/President of Anari Inc., www.anari-invest.com Bill has brought Asian institutional capital to US and other Western investment managers and asset owners since the 1990’s – significantly in direct real estate, REITS, M&A, infrastructure, private equity, and private credit; and to a lesser extent in venture capital and M&A in the mid-market insurance sector.
For global institutional investors, he regularly conducts macro-strategic investor trips to Asia, Europe, and Latin America. These high-level, small-group exploratory trips are useful for asset allocation, risk assessment, strategic planning and due diligence; and enable Anawaty to keep abreast of the latest interests, needs, and preferences of institutional investors around the world.
